Mission: New Frontier
Location: Starbase 80

The trio of Scimitar fighters entered the bay and began their trek toward their designated landing pad. As they flew through, all were amazed at how much activity their already was at the station...not to mention the progress that had been made in just a little over a month. But with the assets and resources that had been thrown at the station it was no wonder. Even more amazing was the number of ships, Starfleet and otherwise, that were already in the docks. A precursor of things to come.

The fighters touched down smoothly at the designated spot and quickly spooled down their engines. As they did so, a small group of people moved forward...most with a bit of a perplexed look on their faces. As the three pilots, helmets and darkened visors still in place, moved forward to meet the group the one in front spoke. "Permission to come aboard." The females voice brought a smile to Vilgi and Rosaleen's faces.

Adria was standing there as well still dressed in her flightsuit. While she knew the voice behind the helmet instantly Tempest showed no sign she did.

Lizzy had been called down to the shuttle bay, when this trio of fighters had been discovered on sensors. Learning that they were Starfleet fighter craft, she'd authorized their docking procedures. "Permission granted." She said as she intently watched them all, wondering who they might be. "I'm the ranking officer on the station, Captain Jey Cleh."

The pilot in front of the trio walked over to Jey, removing her helmet as she did so...and allowing a mess of red hair to spill out as she did. "You stand relieved, Captain, although I need a shower first if you would. Commodore O'Shea." She pulled off her gloves and offered a hand.

"And here I was expecting you to show up on a Starship." Lizzy replied. She was glad that this woman had arrived, because she hated the tedious task of trying to run the whole station, even if she did have help from Commander Masters. Though she didn't exactly relish the idea of ending up as the Executive Officer either. "Welcome aboard, Commodore. I'm sure a shower could be arranged for you."

"Thank you, Captain. We will get together a bit later so you can give me a rundown on things." Kathleen replied. 'And a chance to get to know you a bit better.' Rosaleen had some misgivings about their new XO, so Kathleen figured she should test the waters herself.

"Beautiful landing Commodore," Adria remarked allowing a smile to appear as she greeted O'Shea once she had finished with Cleh.

O'Shea turned to Adria. "From you, I take that as a high compliment. Thank you." She turned to look at the trio of fighters...one had a couple of long black streaks down the right wing. "That bird will need to be run through, though. We were jumped by a group of pirate fighters out at the Parhura Intersect. We took out 6 but they got their licks in." She faced Adria again. "You must go out hunting sometime soon. There is plenty of Prey still out there."

"That's in my plans Commodore. We may have to change up our tactics a bit to keep them guessing. When the group of fighters I was escorting came in our numbers scared them off pretty quickly."

"Commodore," Eliana was present for the arrival of the commanding officer that she had already heard so much about, "Eliana Masters, a pleasure to meet you ma'am."

Kathleen shook the woman's hand. "The pleasure is mine, Commander. I have heard some really good things about you back at Fleet. They say you are as talented at organizing flight operations as a conductor directing a symphony."

"Thank you Commodore, I certainly hope to expound upon my reputation with our work here at the base. I look forward to going over some ideas with you soon. Welcome aboard, and for what it's worth, I'll echo Tempest - excellent approach and landing. You and your wingmen."

"I and my flight hank you. It was nice to get back in the saddle again, as they say."

Stood to one side Vigli waited for the new command pair to make there introductions, Kathleen's manner of arrival was no great surprise, and neither was the fact she been in a bit of a fight. "The folks that like to lurk round that spot, are getting bolder it seems. To bad for them they picked on the wrong element. " Inclining his head towards the scorch markings. "That'll buff right out Boss. No problem."

She walked over to Vilgi. "Saving my butt as usual, eh Commander? It's good to see you again, my friend. How are things progressing?"

Well someone has too." Vilgi responded with a grin. "We're getting there, twenty eight Cerberus bays are operational across various levels, another thirty at differing stages of work. Most everyone has what they need to be getting on with there immediate tasks and works. Everyone's pitching in, CoE personnel seem to be everywhere which is good, their director is  more than capable, you'll want to meet her."

"I look forward to it, Commander. Get with me this evening at some point. I have quite a bit to discuss with you."

"Sounds intriguing." Vilgi commented with a grin, it sounded like a particular assignment was about to come his way, if Kathleen remained true to form. "2030 hours, how about then?"

"I'll see you then." She turned to see who else was on hand, looking for two people in particular. And there they were.

Allison and Rosaleen stood off to the side together. They had been comparing notes in preparation of Kathleen's arrival. They waited until she had made her rounds with the others present before approaching her. "Commodore...it's good to see you again." Allison said warmly. She had missed Kathleen. "When you get settled in, I believe a short briefing is in order."

As Allison spoke, Rosaleen put her gaze on Jey. "Yes, Commodore. Very much in order."

She immediately sensed it from Rosaleen...something was disturbing her. "Right after I get settled." A pair of slight nods was all the answer she needed.

Having been quiet, and kept her helmet on the whole time, one of the other pilots took her helmet off. The pointed ears, long dark hair, and young facial features gave her away immediately to those who knew her. "I think a hot shower, and a good meal are in order first." She said approaching the Captain. She had also heard Rosaleen's information about this Captain Cleh, and was interested in every bit of it, especially since she would be serving as her Yeoman, since her father was now missing. She reached a hand out to Jey. "Petty Officer 1st Class Arianna D'Tal."

"Welcome aboard, Petty Officer." Lizzy replied, shaking the young girl's hand. "I'll see to it that proper quarters are assigned for each of you."

"Oh just one thing..." Arianna said, leaning in close. "Due to a minor... social problem, the Commodore has authorized me to have quarters of my own... No bunk mates."

"I'm sure it can be arranged." Lizzy said, glancing over between Rosaleen, and Kathleen.

Arianna turned to the others, a light smile on her face, which hinted at a bit of pride. "Didn't think I could fly one of these, did you?" She asked those that already knew her.

"No I didn't." Vilgi responded with a note of pleasant surprise in his voice. "But given your skill with the technical side of small craft and your unique ability to pick things up, it was always a possibility. It's good to have you aboard Petty Officer."

"Thanks." Arianna said with a light smile. "I just wish my father were here with us."

As Arianna talked with Vilgi, Lizzy observed her. This petty officer seemed awfully young, even for someone who was only enlisted. From what she'd remembered reading through her sister's PaDDs, the minimum age for joining Starfleet was 18, but this girl looked at least a few years too young to even be a cadet, much less a Petty Officer 1st Class. "Excuse me, Petty Officer, but how old are you?"

Arianna turned to the Captain with a raised eyebrow. "I'm 17." She said simply. "Why do you ask?"

"How are you holding the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class?" Lizzy asked unceremoniously. "Isn't the minimum age 18 just to join the Academy?"

"Generally yes." Arianna said simply, as she held her helmet under her arm. "However, as Commodore O'Shea can attest, my rank began as an acting rank, with the understanding that I would join the Academy. A few months ago, Starfleet decided to make it an official rank."

"So... you're not joining the Academy?" Lizzy asked.

"I am still joining the Academy as soon as I'm allowed to." Arianna explained simply. "Now if you don't mind, Captain, my business is my own, and I'd appreciate you staying out of it."

"Suit yourself, kid." Lizzy replied with a sigh. "I just don't think it's a good idea for someone so young to hold a rank without any training."

Though she hid it, Arianna was starting to get quite annoyed with this woman. Light shades of gray began swirling in her eyes. "Captain Cleh, what gives you the right to-" She started, before being interrupted.

"Excuse me, ma'am?" Eliana had been watching the conversation unfold out of the corner of her eye. The annoyed look growing across the young woman's face was becoming more and more evident with each passing sentence. An attempt to throw a life preserver to the poor girl was the least that Masters could do.

Arianna stopped talking the moment Eliana spoke. For several tense seconds, she stared at the Captain, the swirls of gray fading away as if they'd never been there. "What is it?" She asked, without looking away from Jey.

"If I could bother you for just a moment," Ellie began, "there seems to be an issue that I could use your help with."

Finally, Arianna turned her attention to Eliana. "What can I help you with, Commander?"

Masters led the girl away from the potentially explosive situation towards the back of the fighter she had just flown in. A moment ago when she had walked over to Arianna, she had drained a bit of coolant from the sump, and it was now sitting on the hangar floor in a neon blue puddle. Admittedly, it was a nice touch.

"There," Ellie gave a knowing smile as she stooped over and wiped the mess up with a freshly procured cloth. "It's probably nothing, but I just wanted to bring it to your attention."

Arianna sighed, realizing what this woman was doing. "As much as I hate to admit this, you probably just saved Captain Cleh from ending up in Sickbay." She said just low enough that only Eliana could hear. "It's part of the social issue that I have. Sometimes, when I'm triggered, I lose control of my temper." It was only a half truth, but Arianna figured it would be a sufficient explanation.

Eliana paused for a moment, wondering if the statement had any sort of threatening undertone to it, but the gravity of the truth contained within the young woman's words was obvious to her. There was no threat, she had said it just like someone might state that plants need water to live. Disposing of the coolant soaked rag, Masters smiled as she brushed an unruly lock of hair away from her eyes.

"It's okay, I'm sorry I tricked you, it just looked like you could have used a distraction for a minute," Masters explained. "My name is Eliana, but my friends call me Ellie. As long as I'm around, you'll always have someone to talk to, okay?"

"Thanks." Arianna said in reply, offering her hand. "Just do me a favor... If I ever tell you to get away from me, it'd be wise to remain out of arms reach, for your own safety... I don't want to hurt anyone."

Annoyed and Frustrated at how this arrival had played out, Lizzy sighed. "If you all will excuse me, I have work to get back to." With that, she turned to head out, gesturing to Eliana. "Commander Masters, see that the Commodore, and her companions get whatever they need. I'll be in what's left of the medical area of the station." With that, Lizzy left the bay, grateful that she didn't have to deal with that group right now.

Kathleen waited until the XO had exited the bay before speaking again. "I liked it much better when they let me pick my own first officer."

"I'll do my. . .best . . ma'am," Eliana raised an eyebrow as she watched Captain Cleh walk away from the group. She was in the middle of replying to the instruction she had been given before she realized that she was talking to the hangar wall. The next moment was spent comprehending what the Commodore had just said, but Masters decided to let that one go.

"Per orders Commodore," Masters had a bit of fun at Cleh's expense, "is there anything you or your party need at the moment? I'd be happy to assist in any way I can."

Kathleen turned to face Masters. "See to my comrades needs, if you please. My assistant will be able to help me get settled in."

"Yes ma'am, right away," Eliana turned and waved Arianna and the others over to her. Today, performing her job at the best of her ability meant being the welcome wagon, which she was happy to do.
