What a way to make an entrance.

Posted on Thu Apr 17th, 2014 @ 11:14pm by Lieutenant Commander Rosaleen O'Donnell & Captain Jey Cleh

Mission: New Frontier
Location: SB 80, Jey's Quarters
Timeline: Late

Rosaleen worked her way through the temporary officers quarters...actually it was every ones quarters at the moment as there were few areas that were actually habitable in the station. Checking numbers as she went, it took more than a few tries to finally find the right corridor. As she approached the room she was looking for, she looked at her chrono once again. 'Over two hours late...way to start your tenure as XO.' She reached up and hit the door chime...then hit it again. And again.

And again.

After pushing the door chime a few more times, the door finally opened. Much to Rosaleen's surprise, she found a woman wearing a long night shirt, and socks. Her hair was a complete disaster, and it looked like she was just now waking up. The most prominent thing she noticed however, was the 21st century gun that was pointing at her.

"What do you want?" the voice was fairly casual, but with a hint of tired seriousness.

The temperature cooled noticeably as Rosaleen simply stared at the woman. 'Really?' "Your late, Captain. Your shift started a couple of hours ago. By your...disheveled state I assume that either you slept through your wake up alarm, or simply choose to ignore it."

"I forgot to set it." Lizzy replied, as she backed off into the room, not bothering to close the door as she set the gun on the coffee table. "Don't just stand there, come in so the door will close. I don't exactly want the whole station to see me change my clothes." Lizzy ordered as she began rummaging through her bag for a brush, and makeup. She had placed her sister's uniform on the sofa the night before after taking it off. It was neatly folded, which seemed consistent with the rest of the room. While not much had been unpacked, not a single thing was out of place.

Rosaleen walked into the room and sat in the only empty chair there was, smoothing her dress out as she sat. "You have already missed two conference calls. I have re-scheduled them for this afternoon. Things move at a fast pace around here...if you get behind, it's hard to play catchup."

"I'm sure I'll survive." Lizzy said as she pulled the things out of her bag that she needed, and began changing into her uniform. "It's not like this is the first time I've ever been out of my element before."

'Her body certainly doesn't match her folder' Rosaleen thought to herself as she watched Jey remove her nightshirt. Her body was well toned...almost like a fighters. And there were several scars that she couldn't account for as well. "So...late night?" She asked in an attempt to engage the woman, still mapping her body and the various marks on it for future research. Something about Jey just seemed...off. She had studied her Jacket inside and out...never hurts to know everything that you can about your command team.

Lizzy slipped into her uniform pants, not even noticing that Rosaleen was intently studying her. "I spent the night studying the station schematics, so I can learn my way around." She explained. Part of it was truth, but not the whole truth. The other reason she had been studying the station schematics was so she could transmit them to the Orions who had captured her sister. "Better than being lost all the time." As she finished pulling on her uniform shirt, she finally noticed Rosaleen studying her. "What are you looking at?" She asked. "Did I put something on wrong, or something?"

Her gaze never wavered. "No, not at all. I just like to study people. The details...the only way to completely know somebody. I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable." She stood, keeping eye contact, and walked toward Jey...who could have sworn that it suddenly was warmer in the room. Also, she felt a strange sensation like something was wrong with the flow of time itself. Rosaleen walked slowly around her, coming back to stare into her eyes once again. "So how was your trip? Anything...unexpected along the way?"

Lizzy suddenly felt very uncomfortable by what she was experiencing. All her senses told her this woman could very easily be dangerous, if provoked the wrong way. "My trip was boring, but fine. I went to see my sister for a few days, then came here." Lizzy studied the woman, who was still studying her. She appeared Human, but with the things she was experiencing, she knew Rosaleen was something far more dangerous. "What are you?" She demanded calmly, but with a firm directness, as her body invisibly tensed up for a possible fight.

A smile. "I am the Commodore's personal assistant." Was her simple reply.

Lizzy closed her eyes, and shook her head as if shaking away the cobwebs. When she opened them back up, her perception of time seemed to return to normal. "Weird." She said as she strapped her gun to her hip, then picked up her hairbrush, and moved to the mirror to brush her hair. "I think there might be something wrong with the environmental systems in here. Have someone check it out by the end of the day, Lieutenant." As Lizzy gave the order, she looked at Rosaleen in the mirror. Though to shrugged off her explanation, there was still a great deal of suspicion towards this woman. Though if she were a telepath, it wouldn't much matter, since there was a specialized device embedded into her earrings designed to block telepathic signals.

"I will be sure and place the work order as soon as I return to my office." Something was definitely off with Jey, although what exactly it was, she couldn't quite place a finger on. But she had studied the officers personnel file thoroughly...as she did with anybody of importance who was new under the Commodore's command, and the file did not match the person. "So no problems during your trip that I need to be aware of?" Again she was just taking some guesses and throwing out questions...so far the reactions had been interesting.

Lizzy sighed heavily, turning to face Rosaleen. She was getting frustrated with this woman's questions. "I already told you there were no problems!" She snapped. Constant questions were one of the many reasons she had decided to keep away from others over the years, and this woman was no exception. "Why are you so curious about my trip!?"

'Bingo.' Rosaleen decided that she would need to do a bit more digging once she had the chance. This wasn't the calm, easy going person that was described in her file. Something wasn't right, and she would get to the bottom of it somehow.

"Oh...it's nothing, actually." She then locked eyes again with Jey. "I have all the information I need...for now." She softened her gaze a bit before continuing. "Anyways, you have a busy day ahead of you so I shall not keep you any longer. I would advise you to pay better attention to your alarms in the future. As station XO you usually will have quite full days."

"Wait... What did you just say?" Lizzy was visibly calm now, as this woman's last comment came through to her, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Did you just say... that I'm this station's Executive Officer?"

'And you should have known that as well.' Outwardly she exhibited no change. "What did you think you were coming here for, to lay on the beaches? Pull it together, Captain...you have a job to do."

"I thought I was coming here to work on the station's medical systems." Lizzy said, turning back to the mirror to continue brushing her hair. "Not take command, if the Commodore decides she wants a vacation."

Rosaleen kept her temper in check as she spoke, but she had had quite enough. "You obviously know absolutely nothing about Kathy. Or your job expectations for that matter. For routine day-to-day matters, you are essentially the one in command. You are here to make her job load smaller, and to let her handle the really important matters. And if you are too scared to make any real decisions, don't worry...she trusts me to make those if necessary." She walked closer to Jey. "Don't let the bars fool you, Captain. I am much more than you could possibly ever imagine. I would advise you to remember this when speaking with me."

That was it... Lizzy'd had enough. She turned to face Rosaleen, a fiery temper in her eyes. "I've had enough, Lieutenant!" She nearly screamed. "You come in here, waking me up, and asking me the same questions over and over, and then you insult me? Get the hell out of my quarters!!"

There were many ways that Rosaleen could have responded, but the manner in which she did was both unexpected and unsettling. As smile slowly spread across. A knowing smile...a smile which sent a chill down Lizzy's spine, and chilled her to the core. Then, she quietly turned and walked too the door, pausing for a moment once there and spoke without turning. "Don't be late again." She exited the room before Lizzy could reply.

As the door closed behind Rosaleen, Lizzy sighed. Something hadn't seemed right about that woman from the start of things. After that little display, it was obvious that she might even be dangerous. She would have to keep an eye on that one for her own safety. She finished brushing her hair, grabbing her PaDD, before heading out the door. She had some catching up to do, and she needed to get to it.
