The unruly crowd became even wilder and louder as the two teams exited the tunnel and entered the pitch. The starting 11 for each squad lined up in front of the crowd. The stadium was sold out. The fans for each team seemed to be evenly dispersed around the stadium. Flags and banners were every where. The announcer could be heard over the loudspeakers announcing the names of each of the teams one after another. The fans for each team either cheered or booed depending on the team that was announced then the crowd fell silent as the anthem began playing.

After the anthem finished the crowd fell right back into their unruly state. Each team shook hands of the other then the captains met with the refs. The coin was flipped and the away team got the ball first. Each of the captains returned to their teams taking positions on the pitch.

Talia took a deep breath as she jogged in place for a few seconds. She was ready. This was her second Championship game. Last year they lost in the shootout. It was crushing but the team bounced back this year and went undefeated however none of that would matter if they lost again. The whistle was blown and the game play began.

The first half seemed to end just as quickly as it had started. Both teams had their chances but neither one was able to capitalize on any of them. Teams were evenly matched.

Talia sat in the locker room. Siping water out of her bottle. The coached talked but it appeared in the distance. She didn’t really listen to anything he said. She was irritated by the game. The defender that had been marking her had been riding her hard all game. She hadn’t been able to get any type of separation from her.

Coach finished talking and they announced that they would be heading back to the field in five minutes. She got up taking one more swing of her water and headed down the tunnel. She grabbed a ball and entered the pitch. Couple of her other teammates were already out there passing the ball back and forth. She joined them.

After a brief warm up they all retreated back to their bench. After a few more words of wisdom from her coach they took the pitch and the second half of the game began. They had number of attacking chances in the first five minutes of the game but couldn’t score.

Then ten minutes into the second half on a counter attack the other team scored a goal. Talia hung her head down. The way that the game was going all it might take is one goal. But, after their team got a corner few minutes later they all got in position for a set play. The ball flew in from the corner. Talia jumped up. The ball made contact with her head she pointing it towards the corner of the goal. It flew right where she wanted. It went past the goalkeeper for a score. Everyone celebrated.

The game was back at even. It continued on. Back and forth it went. About ten minutes before the end, Talia finally managed to break free from the defender that had been riding her. She took her shoot and as the ball left her foot she felt somebody slide into her taking her off her feet. As she made contact with the ground, she screamed in pain. Meanwhile the ball flew past the goalkeeper and into the goal. She laid there in pain as her teams rushed to her to celebrate however as soon as they reached her it was clear that she wasn’t alright.

The medical staff rushed to her. They began examining her quickly and determined that she wouldn’t be able to continue playing. Talia was carried off the pitch and inside to the locker room. They determined that she had broken her ankle.

“Computer, freeze program.” She got up from the medical table. This was a holo-program and the safety was on but it had been designed in such a way that the injuries appeared to be real. The pain would be felt. “Fast forward the program to 25 minutes.”

Computer fast forwarded the program. Talia made her way out to the field to celebrate with her teammates. However, she was on a pair of crutches. The ceremony and celebration lasted for about half an hour. When it all came to an end Talia dropped the crutches.

“Computer, end program.” Talia order. The computer ended the program. She headed towards the exit. “Computer, archive the recording. Send a copy to my computer terminal and a copy to Lt. Commander Mackenzie with the following message ‘You owe me for missing the match.’”

The computer complied with her commands. Talia exited the holodeck with a smile on her face. She was happy about the win even if it was just a holo-program.
