Meeting the Second

Posted on Sun Apr 13th, 2014 @ 1:01am by Lieutenant JG Kaylee Williams & Commander Eliana Masters

Mission: New Frontier
Location: Near Eliana's Temp Office

Kaylee was busy working on repairing the ship, spending most of her time quite literally inside the station, crawling through its maintenance tubes. She was near a air vent when she stared down and saw a young woman working away, unknown to the woman she was being watched.

Kaylee was working on the power conduits and decided to shift her arm into the required tool for the job, thankful she didnt have to lug her tools around like the other engineers, when suddenly she hit something which sent out a power surge, in an attempt to escape she headed for the ventilation hatch and fell down into the room, landing with a slight thud as she fell the 10 ft out of the tube.

"Owww." Kaylee grunted out as her body fought the extra residual electricity out of her body.

"Are you alright?" Eliana rushed over and checked on her most recent visitor. Unlike the other visitors to her office thus far, this particular guest had made an unique arrival. Looking down at the engineer, Masters checked for vitals before taking a look around. Thankfully, she hadn't fallen on anything sharp or particularly dangerous, but the distance between the ventilation hatch and floor was still considerable. On the desk nearby, Ellie's mementos and PADDs remained undisturbed, unaware of the intrusion.

"I'm good, outside of the fall and the shock therapy." Kaylee said with a slight painful smirk. "Sorry for the intrusion, I was trying to repair the power conduit above us and I think I might have have forgotten to redirect the power to another section of the station so I could repair this end. You get hurt from my mistake?" Kaylee said not caring for herself much as she has been shocked before.

"No, I'm fine, thank you. Quite a shock, if you'll forgive the pun." Ellie smiled. "Eliana Masters, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Laying on her back, she tried to relax as her body tried to recover from the muscle seizure that occurred. "Lt Kaylee Williams, Stations Director of Starfleet Corps of Engineers Division 16F. I would say reporting for duty but I been here trying to repair the station sense day one." Kaylee said as she looked up to the ceiling.

"Lieutenant Williams, welcome to the temporary home of Flight Operations," Masters moved back to give Kaylee some more room. "Could I help you up to the sofa over there?"

"The Floor is very comfortable, great for the back. I know this isnt your normal first introductions. Normally I would walk threw that door over there, state my rank and name but I didnt even know an officer was on the station to be honest." Kaylee said as she laid there relaxing as she thought for a moment. "Flight Operations. Hmmmm, I think we will have those systems up and running within the next 72 hours. We kinda been prioritizing repairs by Major repairs to impossible repairs, leaving the minor repairs for later, Its best to repair the major stuff first, wouldnt you agree, sir?" Kaylee said as she felt her back return to somewhat normal.

"Ma'am is fine Lieutenant," Ellie relayed as she stood to make her way back to her chair. The sound of the environmental system was joined by the echoes of maintenance work going on throughout the station. If progress had a sound, this had to be close to it.

"As far as your question, I'm a big believer in efficiency Lieutenant. Whatever is the best way to accomplish a task is the way I want to go about completing it. If you have been here more than a day, you know this station and its crew better than I," Masters spun around lazily in her chair. A pair of NCOs from her department walked by. For now, her office had a nice view of . . . the corridor.

"Well, Si...Ma'am." Williams said catching herself. "I just come in boss some people around and go about my work. I dont know them much, for the last few days I been sleeping and eating in those repair tubes. I havent even checked to see if I have quarters let alone an office. But could I ask what happened to cause such devastating damage?" Williams asked curiously.

Masters made another revolution in her chair, buying herself a few, previous seconds with which she could formulate her answer. The official report stated that the Kzinti had sabotaged what they could before they left, like any enraged, evicted tenant would do. From what she had seen in her limited time on the station, Ellie had arrived to another conclusion.

"You've seen the damage up close Lieutenant," Ellie stated. "Put your observations together and I bet you could tell me what happened."

"Anytime an officer asks that its because they dont know themselves." Kaylee said chuckling as she got up from prone position. "Anyways, from the damage I did see it looks like the station had one hell of a party with an entire task force. Destroyed about 66% of the station and the other 24% was recently repaired. So this station definitely went threw the meat grinder." she said as she went over and laid on the couch.

"I see," Masters replied, filing away a mental note as she did so. "Well, stay as long as you'd like, I'll be at my desk if you need anything."

"I think I should get back to work. If you need anything let me know, ill be around." Kaylee said as she left the make shift office.

"Good day Lieutenant," Eliana looked up and smiled. Her visitor's method of exit was more traditional than the way she had dropped into her office - definitely a memorable first impression if there was such a thing.
