Physical Description | "Rails," as she is known to her friends, was born and raised on the Luna Colony. Her father traces his bloodline back several hundred years to his ancestry that called regions of Eastern Europe home. Facially, Rayleigh resembles her father’s family. Her mother, born on Betazed, passed down her hair and stature. It is from these roots that many of Rayleigh’s physical attributes descend from. Rayleigh has a condition known as heterochromia iridis, a unique trait that essentially means that she has two different colored eyes. While most noticeable in bright areas, even when the lighting is dim, one is able to ascertain that her right eye is predominantly green and her left eye is predominantly brown, though flecks of the opposing color can be found in each eye. Because of the color, most assume that she is full human, and most are unaware of the Betazoid in her blood unless she tells them. Physically, she stands shorter than many members of the human or Betazoid race, but it has never been an excuse or a detriment to her. In fact, her smaller stature has been beneficial to her throughout her career. Not having to squeeze into the small workspaces found in the smaller shuttles around the training is a big bonus for a small girl. While on duty, her hair is usually up in a ponytail. Off-duty, she prefers to dress casually, and doesn’t much care about others opinions of her dress. |

Personality & Traits
General Overview | Quiet and introverted at first, Rayleigh is somewhat of a contradiction to the norm - a calm and gentle soul in a department that is full of hot-headed and rambunctious individuals. After she gets to know a person, she generally tends to warm up and become quite the chatterbox. Rails does not hesitate to go out of her way to help someone, a trait that she undoubtedly inherited from her mother. Calm under pressure, this has allowed her to become a very reliable pilot, able to pull through in even the toughest scenarios.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Rayleigh’s greatest strength is her friendliness and personality. No matter how bleak the situation, her effervescent smile always cuts through the gloom and doom and brings a ray of sunshine to a person’s day right when they need it most. Perhaps in a different life, Rayleigh would have been a successful business woman or entrepreneur, but as it stands, most people that know her count themselves lucky because of it. Rayleigh’s greatest weakness is her lack of selfishness. While at first this may seem a positive thing, the side effects are far from beneficial. Often times, she fails to take enough time out of the day for herself and this in turn leads to a myriad of other physical and emotional problems. However, when she manages to find the time to spend with friends and take care of herself, she’s a very happy individual. |

Ambitions | Rayleigh has always wanted to invent something that would make the interface between pilot and machine become more integrated, but her lack of technical knowledge may prevent her from doing so. Meanwhile, she plans to pursue the position of the Chief Flight Control Officer aboard a Federation Starship, and it is this ambition that provides her motivating force.
Hobbies & Interests | Rayleigh’s great passion has always been flying, whether it be model airplanes, shuttlecraft, or advanced starships. Friendly and helpful, she once took a job instructing new cadets at the Academy, not having been graduated herself very long. Her second great passion is people. She loves to people watch and learn what makes people tick. It is through these studies that she has learned to accept things about herself, as well as what she is able to change and adapt to. |
